G Whiz: Infiniti's G35 aces the value equation

Even as Infiniti rolled out its hot new G37 coupe this past autumn, sedan drivers were enjoying the redesigned 2007 G35 sedan so much as to hand Infiniti a record sales year for the four-door, snapping up 54,015 units through December. It doesn't take long behind the wheel to see the attraction.

It starts with an attention to detail not witnessed before from Nissan's luxury arm, with interior materials, build quality and content as good as anything on the market. We heard this echoed from numerous G35 owners, who appreciate how much Infiniti stepped up its interior game over the first-generation G.

"The biggest improvement is in the interior," commented one owner. "Everything looks and feels more expensive."

Another concurred: "Build and interior technologies surpass anything in its class."

The G35 delivers a quality ride, too, with only moderate thumping penetrating the cabin over the worst freeway hop but never resulting in any real cabin pitching. We found decent isolation over lane-divider dots, especially considering the car's performance-oriented...
